1) Make your way to Mudgee, by whichever route seems best to you.
2) Find the clock tower, at the intersection of Church St. and Market
St. (Church St is the one that runs from the McDonalds intersection,
through town)
3) From the clock tower, head out of town, past the Regent Theatre,
and over the Cudgegong River. This is the Cassillis road. (You will
pass the Country Comfort Motel on the left). Go 10 Km along the Cassillis
Rd, to the Wollar turn off. Turn right onto the Wollar Rd.
(At this
corner, there is a historic cottage, supposedly the site where Henry
Lawson wrote his famous poem "The Loaded Dog")
4) Go approximately 18 Km from this turn off, until you see the
Cooyal pub on your left. The traditional "VB" sign is prominently
displayed. (Cooyal, now just a passing locality, was a town of 20,000
people during the gold rush of the 1850's.)
5) About 0.5 Km past the pub, turn right. The sign says "Kains Flat
Rd", and there is a sign to Totnes . There is also a garbage dump
on this corner.
6) Go 16 Km along this road. After about 4 Km, the tar runs out
and the road changes name to "White Cedars Rd". Keep going
straight .
Do not turn off left or right. (even though the tarred road turns
to the right)
7) Just keep going along the gravel road until you reach a steep
hill. (Observe the twin sisters on your right, and the power transmision
lines. As you pass under the power lines, you are crossing the Great
Divide)
8) At the bottom of the hill, the road veers to the right and changes
name to "Totness Valley Rd". Our place is about 1.5 Km from this
bend, on the right. You will see the (ex-army) sign, "Miles" on the
gate.
Welcome!!!
